Members thefanninator Posted November 21, 2015 Author Members Report Posted November 21, 2015 (edited) Sorry about the poor photo quality. I think I have enough leather left to do a third. I learned a lot and I've got a few more changes in mind to make the next one better. Beautiful work! Both handle designs are well executed. Thanks! Once I get the bag where I want it, I plan on lining it and using some nicer leather. I've got a few tools to buy too. Members MonicaJacobson Posted November 21, 2015 Members Report Posted November 21, 2015 Chris, both of them are beautiful. What about a side view of the gusset on both bags? I like the pocket and the strap attachment better on the first one, but that's a matter of preference. Quote http://monicajacobson.com/ https://www.etsy.com/shop/TrimGoTrix?ref=si_shop

I'll get a photo of the gussets soon, I've got some edge paint drying. The gussets and the body turned out better on the second one. On the first one the body was 3 pieces, front, back and bottom. I just used one piece for the second. The gussets on the second are folded correctly on the bottom and that made for a more ridged bottom and I lined the top edge with a thin slice of leather, stitched and painted the edges. The first bag was all 9 spi. The gusset/body seam on the 2nd is 7 spi. Edited November 21, 2015 by thefanninator Quote http://www.instagram.com/fannintexas/
Members thefanninator Posted November 21, 2015 Author Members Report Posted November 21, 2015 (edited) Side view of both gussets. The first bag is floppy because of the position of the pocket, the weight of all the brass and I failed to fold some of the "legs" under. The second gusset has the correct fold underneath and I lined the top edge. Edited November 21, 2015 by thefanninator Quote http://www.instagram.com/fannintexas/

Members DavidL Posted November 21, 2015 Members Report Posted November 21, 2015 What weight of leather are you using? Quote
Members thefanninator Posted November 21, 2015 Author Members Report Posted November 21, 2015 (edited) Maverick website says this is 3.5 oz. It's the Blue Lagoon in their closeout section... Really cheap... But hey that's what you should be learning on. Don't waste that good leather! Edited November 21, 2015 by thefanninator Quote http://www.instagram.com/fannintexas/
