Grey Drakkon Report post Posted October 22, 2015 So I got the book Purses in Pieces and was really excited to see the actual binding method was shown. Unfortunately, I just can't figure out how one of them is done! On page 19 here: http://www.oxbowbooks.com/pdfs/books/purses%20amerika.pdf it shows a binding that looks like twisted rope on the front, but in the back it's a tidy straight line stitch. How the hell is this done?! I can only figure out how to make it twisted on both sides which bulks it up too much.
Ole South Report post Posted November 7, 2015 Give me a sec... I'll see if I can post something in the Stitches thread.
electrathon Report post Posted November 7, 2015 It is done with one thread, two holes forward on the top, one hole back on the bottom.

TinkerTailor Report post Posted November 8, 2015 Like this? I used this stitch to join the waxed canvas top to the leather bottom on this dopp kit: Its 2 over on the front, 1 back on the back being careful that the needle comes back out under the loop from the previous stitch. The shorter the stitch length and the fatter the thread, the more rope like it is.
