Members AdamTracksler Posted October 23, 2015 Members Report Posted October 23, 2015 (edited) I have some 3-4 oz veg tan that I'd like to make a bag out of. Ive been testing it out with a couple smaller projects, and am having some trouble getting it to groove correctly. The grooving tool seems to want a thicker leather, and the leather moves a lot while trying to groove it... Any suggestions on grooving thinner leather? Edited October 23, 2015 by AdamTracksler Quote
Contributing Member Bob Blea Posted October 23, 2015 Contributing Member Report Posted October 23, 2015 Hello Adam, I'm assuming you mean a stitching groover? If so, one thing you could do is place a ruler on top of the leather to hold the edge in place and act like a clamp to hold it against your bench. Place it so it's as close as possible to where you want to run the groover. It should be able to keep the leather in place better and not allow it to stretch as easily. Hope this helps, Bob Quote
Members snubbyfan Posted October 23, 2015 Members Report Posted October 23, 2015 Stitching grooves aren't always necessary. For something like that I'd just lay out the stitch line with a pair of dividers, Punch the stitch holes and stitch it without a groove. Quote
