l2bravo Report post Posted November 11, 2015 Is there any preference in the aluminum machines or the cast ones? Is there a difference in price, or performance? Just looking at used machines, and didn't know. Thank you guys for any help you may be able to give, Josh
LeatherLegion Report post Posted November 11, 2015 I have an aluminum one and used it for about 7-8 years before it needed repairs. I bought a Cowboy CB4500 , but I still have the BOSS and I will probably never get rid of it. Great machine !!!!
mlapaglia Report post Posted November 11, 2015 From a weight standpoint the cast iron is heaver. The Aluminum version has had some updates to it over the years. There seems to be a nostalgia for the Cast Iron but I prefer the Aluminum version as it is a little lighter and tends to run a little bit better. Either one is a good machine. You can always get the Iron one updated at the factory. Its not that expensive. Short answer, The really isnt that much of a difference to make a person switch from one to the other. It's more personal preference. Michael, FYI I have had an AL one for almost 6 years. Love it.
Dwight Report post Posted November 11, 2015 I've had my aluminum one for about 8 years, . . . had to take it back once for a problem we could not diagnose any other way. Turned out to be a slipped disc so to speak, . . . was not charged for service call as it was covered under the warranty. It'll probably be sold in my estate after I turn room temperature. May God bless, Dwight
