John at Byson Report post Posted December 14, 2015 Hi folks. Not been about for a while & here I come after help. :-) One of our customers has picked up a pair of WW2 British despatch Rider boots. The leather is in surprisingly good condition but as you can imagine the stitching is rotted. We have put them together for display purposes but the client would like to wear them. Anyone able / know of someone able to take these apart and re-build them ? In the UK or close ? Boots are similar to these:http://www.militarytrader.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=6581
johnv474 Report post Posted December 24, 2015 Shoe repair shops will have long-arm patching machines to reach down the shaft of the boot and the right stitchers for fixing the stitching around the soles. I would expect that rebuilding or re-sewing most of the boot will not be cheap, but it can be done,
fredk Report post Posted December 24, 2015 If you go through this living history forum there are a number of shoe/boot makers. Perhaps one of those can help http://livinghistory.co.uk/forums/index.php
