Darren Brosowski Report post Posted January 3, 2016 There are two different Chinese needle classes that can also work but neither is available in leather point. One is exactly the same dimensions. I posted the details here once before but a representative of a company that only deals in old super heavy machines told me I didn't know what I was talking about so I won't bother again. There is also another needle which is about 2mm shorter and is made for a shoe machine.
Constabulary Report post Posted January 3, 2016 Well Daren, thats not helpful at all, you should at least let him know what needle systems you are talking about or post a link to the thread you mentioned. houndsnmules Report post Posted January 3, 2016 (edited) I'm new to the site, I bought a 97-10 at what I thought was a very fair price. So I'm sure this question has been asked before. Are there any longer needles that can be cut down, if so where do you buy them? I read years ago you could use the 794 system but that kind of defeats the purpose of buying a heavier machine. thanks again Jaime PS Is there a chart that shows all the needle dimension's? CowboyBob Report post Posted January 4, 2016 The 1000H are approx. 1/4" longer than the 97 needle so they can be shortened to work.We have some in stock in #26 & 28 & they only come in a round point.

Darren Brosowski Report post Posted January 5, 2016 Sorry, I may have been a bit grumpy when I wrote that post An eBay search for 97X3 will bring up the needles that are almost the right size. Disclaimer - I am the supplier. The ones that appear to be identical to the 97X3 I cannot give out the number for commercial reasons as I am trying to arrange a supplier. They are not currently available in the West as far as I can determine so obviously I want to be the first. Cowside Report post Posted January 25, 2018 Anyone out there looking for some Singer 97-10 needles, I have some. The only thing , they are a large size, 280. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks
Singermania Report post Posted February 22, 2018 yes the 1000H needle can be used in the 97, they are only slightly longer....however they are still not much good as you cant get them in leather point or smaller sizes. The only real solution at the moment is to down size to the 794 needle, this will mean your beast can only sew 3/4 " rather than 1". I have a couple 97-10 machines, also like cowside have some big needles, anyone that has the thinner needles sizes would be nice to hear from. Or if anyone has the 1000 needle in leather point?? I would also like to find Pearson no 6 needles.... the 331L in 160 and
