Removing Stitches Without Damage

Lets say you need to remove a stitch line without damaging the leather surface.

What tools and methods do you use?

Depends on the object and the material being used itself.

Here are some choices:

Sometimes I'm using a razor blade and cut carefully between the layers.

The red one can be purchased at Wal-mart or any store that has a sewing section. It's a standard seam ripper.
