Members joecool911 Posted January 23, 2016 Members Report Posted January 23, 2016 I've not had great success getting a glue to keep pigskin stuck to the flesh side of veg tan. Glues down nice, but edges tend to lift up during the punching and stitching process. Is there a good glue I should look at? Any hope for not having to stitch the edges or is this a given? Quote
Chief31794 Posted January 23, 2016 Report Posted January 23, 2016 Contact glue, Master's, Barge, etc will glue it down, however, the basic rule in leather working is if you glue it you stitch it, and vice versa. In order to be effective, you should stitch linings in after gluing them down. Chief Quote
Members GrampaJoel Posted January 23, 2016 Members Report Posted January 23, 2016 (edited) Not a glue, but have you tried two sided seam tape? If you are just using it to hold the edges until sewing it might work for you. I have had good luck with its strength. I got it at a fabric store. If you prefer glue. Try ruffing up the glued side of the leather. If you haven't tried it already. Edited January 23, 2016 by GrampaJoel Quote

A couple of heavy coats seems to soak down into the grain and seal stuff up. As opposed to using just the dye to match the leather. Edited January 26, 2016 by joecool911 Quote
