Members venator Posted March 3, 2016 Members Report Posted March 3, 2016 Know what really grinds my gears? Using my new skiver to perfectly skive 3/4 edges for a big duffle bag I'm making then watching it eat 3/4" of leather on the last side for no apparent reason. Bah!!!! Now the dimensions of my bag are off, I have to re-adjust everything and it's no longer going to be the sizing I wanted (had a very specific sizing request from a customer). Stupid skiver. . . Quote
Members eglideride Posted March 5, 2016 Members Report Posted March 5, 2016 Yeah I feel ya- I was making a simple belt for a guy.....oriented the stamp the wrong direction...very last one too! Now its a dog collar! Quote
raysouth Posted March 6, 2016 Report Posted March 6, 2016 Hey David, Dog collar looks great. You are not alone. See if you can find my errant stamp placement on my bulldog pic. It also was the last item. lol. Love it and decided to keep it the way it ended up. Provides me some memories and helps me keep my, *&^%$#%^&*( under control. God Bless. Ray Quote
Members dfrensdorff Posted March 6, 2016 Members Report Posted March 6, 2016 Funny similar story and I feel your pain.....just yesterday I was finishing up a Horween chromexcel guitar strap..... Completely done with the exception of stitching.....stitch groove slid off course, and bam! Guitar strap becomes a couple of dog collars as well.....crazy how quickly a stupid mistake can happen! Members kiwican Posted March 8, 2016 Members Report Posted March 8, 2016 lol nice to see the pros still making mistakes, gives me hope! Raysouth, i see you burn leather ive started into this area can you give any tips on leather pyrography? Quote
Members bob21804 Posted March 8, 2016 Members Report Posted March 8, 2016 (edited) Stupid mistakes? I make them everyday. I was just finishing the flap for my granddaughter birthday present purse... adding her initials... A...M... Upside-down "B". I ended up cutting an oval and sewing it over-top my mistake (with her initials all right-side-up this time). Such is (my) life. And she'll never know. Edited March 8, 2016 by bob21804 Quote
Members venator Posted March 9, 2016 Author Members Report Posted March 9, 2016 Well it's good to know I'm not the only one who feels like banging his head into a wall. It's just a shame to know that I have to buy a whole new hide so now I'm losing money on the project.. . Quote
