I had to re-register because I had forgotten my secret pass word and with the site reboot a little while ago, well here I am again. I was Fredo on here, heck I'm still Fredo but with a new name. Albob or Al-Bob is a knick name a guy gave me a few years ago.

Anyway I'm still reading more then I post and still learning more then I thought I ever could, thank you all for your knowledge. I'm real happy with the new format. It looks like I can now post pictures. So here's a test to see if I can. This was made for a friends wife, this pic is mid build before I lined and stitched. She carries a Ruger wheel gun in .44 mag to keep snakes at bay while out camping.

Nice work, had a guy at work ask me for a similar style holster.  Hopefully it'll come out as well if he goes ahead with it.

I'll admit, . . . I did see some pretty big snakes down around E street when I was in the USN out there.  But they were mostly the 2 leg variety.

But camping with a .44 mag.............gives a whole new perspective to the idea, . . . unless they're camping in the hills south of San Diego, . . . then I'd be carrying something that reloads a lot faster than a wheel gun.

But with that, . . . good looking rig you're doing there.  Be sure to post the finished product up close when it's done.

May God bless,

Dwight

Dwight, those were lot lizards but of course I guess back in the day there could have been a few trouser snakes out and about.

Had a shipmate first class sonarman that had a bad habit of over indulging in adult beverages until he was dead broke. He would then hitchhik back to the base on Point Loma. One night he wandered back aboard soaking wet and cussing up a storm. Seem like he got a ride from a 'nice' guy in a funny looking sports car. After a short discussion after which the driver threatened to 'kill us both' he drove directly into the bay off of Harbor Drive just west of the Coastie air station. My shipmate bailed out and swam ashore quickly but found that the car was an Amphicar and the driver was laughing his head off. Bill took money for at least a bus ride home after that.   mike

They never wound up that bad, . . . but I had some shipmates that must have been some relationship to your sonarman, . . . cousins or something, . . . they would do the same thing.

Had one EM1 that wouldn't drink anything but sloe gin and orange juice, . . . he was ugly when he was plastered.

Thanks for the story katsass, . . . I needed a chuckle today.

May God bless,

Dwight

Thanks everyone. Dwight, I'm sorry I delivered this holster about a year ago. I don't have any finished shots except for the one she sent me wearing it. Belt is 8/9 oz veg tan lined with 4/5 oz. Hand saddle stitched. I'm pretty happy with the way it came out as it was my first western style rig. She and her hubby live up in the Ramona area, plenty of snakes up there. But she means the two legged kind of snake....

Thanks, Albob......

I wasn't sure what kind of snakes you were mentioning, . . . only ones I knew of in the San Diego area that would need a .44 mag, . . . mostly drank a lot, swore a lot, and wore either a skirt or britches.

But, . . . all in all, the rig looked good, . . . and she seemed to be enjoying it.  That last phrase is the most important part of it for me as far as leather working is concerned.  If my customer is happy, . . . I'm happy, . . . looks like you hit a home run with her.

May God bless,

Dwight
