Table

Maybe this is an odd question but.... I been working on a smaller table and nothing is more of a pain when it comes to cutting off a big hyde. The floor? Yes, but Im trying to keep the leather clean and not break my back nor my bank account. This comes to my question. Whats the best way to find one of those big wooden tables that dont brake the bank? Do you just make your own?

You can build a sturdy table using common lumber for the base and frame for the top and use up to a full sheet of 3/4"  plywood or MDF for pretty cheap. You can find plans easily and there are plenty of videos online that show the construction. That's pretty much what I plan to do when I finish putting the rafters and ceiling in my workshop.

If you just want a table to cut sides, get one of those 6 foot folding tables from Sam's or Home Depot/Lowes.  Under $100 and folds up for storage when not in use.

But don't use it for pounding.  Too much bounce..

I have a very small workshop, and have been using the same two 15 year old dinky flat pack desks as work/cutting surfaces.    Got fed up 2 weeks ago, and bought two cheap Ikea table tops, and fitted them on top of my desks.

I now have a greatly increased, and even work surface, and didn't break the bank doing it.    Maybe that would be an idea for you?
