leecopp Report post Posted June 14, 2016 Hey Guys, My 111W155 is sewing well now, thanks for all help. The remaining minor issues are: 1. The front (walking foot) is very tough to install. I need to use a screwdriver to spread the socket to slide it onto the foot shaft. No visible corrosion or deposits. Tried with several new feet with similar results. Is this usual? 2. The needle does not go through the center of the hole on the front foot. It is near the left side of the hole. There is no rubbing or thread wear or breakage. The foot is installed straight. Is there any adjustment of the alignment of the presser foot and the needlebar? I have tried new needles, so bent needles are not the issue. note: this machine had been cruelly adjusted by dreaded previous owner. It came to me without feet so there is just no telling what was going on. Lee
CowboyBob Report post Posted June 14, 2016 It could be a wornout needlebar hole.loosen the needle set screw & see how much it moves left to right. You will probably need to replace the needlebar.
brmax Report post Posted June 14, 2016 Some feet have a rougher machine finish and could be cleaned up a bit inside with a wood stick type cotton swab and some oil or similar then rinsed proper with some thinner types. Its likely a good thing for you, the fit that is. If afterwards from above tips tried with cleaning and needle bar checks, are good then the needle hole might be addressed so I picked up a tip and here to pass it along. I found that using an abrasive product for the needle hole mis-alignment in the presser foot can work well. The "tuning" of this part is needed sometimes as many many feet are, that fall in the price range a lot of us use. A cord product I found helping this work is called Mitchell Abrasive and using this with the presser foot "off" the machine in a holder is required and best. I had tried 2 different grits and found it a good decision, and its available several places and likely other brands also but the type /style is very handy for many task. Good day there Floyd
