englishteacher Report post Posted July 30, 2016 I've been struggling with trying to figure out how this type of corner is done. I've made some paper models with terrible results. Anyone know what the name of this type of corner is called (I've been calling it a 'T' corner), and is there a tutorial out there somewhere? Thanks in advance! gary Report post Posted July 30, 2016 Look at https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=O5HjtCGSLfg He makes a similar corner, just not on a seam. You should be able to see what you need to do.
bikermutt07 Report post Posted July 30, 2016 I have done this once. You cut a notch out the width of the bag on each side. If the bag is 4 inches deep you would cut a notch out of the center on each side of the bag. Find the center and go 2 inches each way minus your stitch line. Then measure in from the sides 2 inches minus your stitch line. Stitch down each side of the bag (inside out). This will create a 90 degree corner at the his gussets. Then pinch your center line towards the side stitching. This is when you find out you don't possess enough arms. Stitch the tees together, then turn the bag right side out. I found out the hard way it's much tougher to turn out if the bag is taller than the width. Though I was using pretty thick leather. I have only done this once, so use caution on the laying out. It will kind explain itself as you go. I was able to figure out the layout by watching a Leodis video. He didn't provide any dimensions, I just saw the shape and then the carpenter in me took it from there. Here's a pic of how mine turned out. Not extremely even but ok for a first try. Good luck and have fun.
electrathon Report post Posted July 30, 2016 It is done by turning the bag inside out after the side seam is sewn and sewing diagonally across the corner.
plinkercases Report post Posted July 30, 2016 Here is link to making bag bottoms. This is where I saw how to do a flat bottom for shooting bags. In my case I sewed al the way around with two panels front and back but the concept is the same when you have a folded single piece as per above. I think they are also called gusset corners and in the case on this link boxed corners and they show several ways to create them http://www.thesewingdirectory.co.uk/bag-bottoms/
