I intend to make my "old man" job in leather, vinyl and canvas repair. Sewing patches on vests. attending outdoor shows and fairs of all kinds. In addition to my Techsew 106 and singer 29k that will stay at home, I'll pack all my hands sewing tools in a chest, load up Boss, Bantam patcher, and 75 year old stitch horse and just try to help people with their broken stuff. If I make $50 a day, I'd be happy. No electricity required for anything.

I used to have a great / grand uncle back in Ireland who toured around the country in a horse drawn wagon ( like a classical gypsy caravan ) doing just those sort of repairs and making things for sale at markets and horse fairs, did some farrier and black smith type work also..met him a few times when I was younger, seemed to be a very happy and contented man.. :)

Cool story, and enjoy your retirement.

I'm not paying 80 bucks for a belt!!! It's a strip of leather. How hard could it be? 4 years and 3 grand later.... I have a belt I can finally live with.

Stitching is like gravy, it's only great if you make it every day.

From Texas but in Bossier City, Louisiana.

Love the colour of the patcher. I usually repaint them black but a dark red colour could be on the way!!
