Members AussieMade Posted September 8, 2016 Members Report Posted September 8, 2016 (edited) So making a dog collar last night, I learnt five things while using dyes..... 1. Wear gloves 2. Remember to put lid back on bottle 3. Ox Blood dye looks good on our polished wood table, if only it was the whole table 4. Should have worn gloves while cleaning it up 5. My partner is not happy, but likes the colour lol Edited September 8, 2016 by AussieMade Quote
bikermutt07 Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 Live and learn. When I was still working in the kitchen I always stained on the porch. Quote
Contributing Member JLSleather Posted September 8, 2016 Contributing Member Report Posted September 8, 2016 Got kids? I'd put a table runner or carving board, or something there - before the kids make sandwiches right there. Purdy sure oxblood is not food-safe Quote
Members TinkerTailor Posted September 8, 2016 Members Report Posted September 8, 2016 Wide rolls of butcher paper are cheaper than wood tables and way easier to deal with than an angry wife. Quote
dirtclod Posted September 8, 2016 Report Posted September 8, 2016 Cardboard boxes are free. I use them all the time to dye on. One side for black other side for the rest of the colors. Quote
Members metroplexchl Posted September 9, 2016 Members Report Posted September 9, 2016 (edited) I learned the hard way too brother! I now lay down cardboard and wear latex gloves. Edited September 10, 2016 by northmount fixed auto correct! Quote
