jakc3 Report post Posted September 27, 2016 Hello, I got in touch with a certain french tannery and they sent me the information about their articles. However I haven't yet seen such units for leather thickness or at least not with such numbers. Could someone please enlighten me on how these would convert to millimeters: 15/17 20/22 26/28 Many thanks, Jakob
TSes Report post Posted September 27, 2016 (edited) Jakob If the numbers you show refer to the weight of leather in ounces, the following should help. I think my math is correct. 15/17 is 15/64 to 17/64 of an inch or 5.95 to 6.74mm 20/22 is 20/64 to 22/64 of an inch or 7.93 to 8.73mm 26/28 is 26/64 to 28/64 of an inch or 10.31 to 11.11mm Tom Edited September 27, 2016 by TSes
billybopp Report post Posted September 27, 2016 Those numbers are awfully thick to be ounces. I suspect they may be mm without the decimal. So maybe 1.5 to 1.7mm. 2 to 2.2mm. Etc. Those sound like more usual leather thicknesses. Bill
jakc3 Report post Posted September 28, 2016 Thank you very much, it is indeed in mm without decimals.
