Members jakc3 Posted September 27, 2016 Members Report Posted September 27, 2016 Hello, I got in touch with a certain french tannery and they sent me the information about their articles. However I haven't yet seen such units for leather thickness or at least not with such numbers. Could someone please enlighten me on how these would convert to millimeters: 15/17 20/22 26/28 Many thanks, Jakob Quote
Members TSes Posted September 27, 2016 Members Report Posted September 27, 2016 (edited) Jakob If the numbers you show refer to the weight of leather in ounces, the following should help. I think my math is correct. 15/17 is 15/64 to 17/64 of an inch or 5.95 to 6.74mm 20/22 is 20/64 to 22/64 of an inch or 7.93 to 8.73mm 26/28 is 26/64 to 28/64 of an inch or 10.31 to 11.11mm Tom Edited September 27, 2016 by TSes Quote
Members billybopp Posted September 27, 2016 Members Report Posted September 27, 2016 Those numbers are awfully thick to be ounces. I suspect they may be mm without the decimal. So maybe 1.5 to 1.7mm. 2 to 2.2mm. Etc. Those sound like more usual leather thicknesses. Bill Quote
