can't seem to balance the Stitch

Good Afternoon everybody,

 

 my dealer that I purchased my consew 1541 machine from California, has not been  much. I am now out and South Dakota  and I am having problems balancing the knot using T 90 thread.

It sews 69 just fine.  the problem lies in I have the tension adjusted as far as it will go and yet I still get a visible knot on the bottom. the only suggestion the dealer had was to put a stronger spring underneath the tension adjuster.

 if I cannot get T 90 to work, I don't think there's any way on Earth to get 130 or 210 working.

Get a stronger top tension beehive spring.

Post a picture of how you have your machine threaded at the top. Are you sure your thread is even between the tension disks?  Sometimes it takes a little effort to snap the thread between the disk, don't just loop it around them.

 I will try this differ behind spring, does that make or some serious attention but if that's what it takes I suppose that's what I will do yes it is between the spring tension discs, I have had it apart cleaned it put back together. Here is a picture of the threading

Perhaps something in your tension release mechanism is stuck and keeps the tension discs apart. You should be able to feel a distinct difference in tension when you pull the thread manually and change the tension setting. If the thread tension doesn't change as you dial the tension knob, you have to figure out why.

Why not adjust the bobbin tension? Or is that not the issue.

Pyrofx:  in the picture above, you have your machine threaded through an extra guide right after the takeup spring. Watch the video at 10:20 or so, It should go straight to the take up lever through the single guide. This may be affecting the thread takeup which can effect knot formation.

Also, quickly try flipping the bobbin over so it turns the other way. On some machines the thread comes off the bobbin easier in one direction or the other. If the machine tensions were setup with the bobbin turning one way and you flip it, it can change the bottom tension either lighter or heavier depending which way the bobbin was installed when the tension was set originally and stitch quality will suffer.

Sometimes the solution in these cases is to back off the tension on both the bottom and top all the way and start again. Then use a sharpie to mark an arrow on the bed to remind you which way the bobbin needs to go in.

Something strange!  Usually top tension increases with a thicker thread if you haven't adjusted anything.  Seems strange you have less top tension.

Go back to 69 thread and make sure it still works, then try 90 on top with no adjustments to see what you need to change.  Then go for 90 on the bottom.  See what result each change produces.

Going back to 69 everything is fine. That's why I'm stumped. 

 

The hippo vid I have watched 10 times.

As for threading it is as the manual shows. 

I'll try reversing The bobbin.

Something I noticed is that 4 layers and it sucks in. Cottons all is good. I'll try leather when I get back off the trip. 

The discs do release. I can see and feel it.
