Members utah leather Posted November 8, 2016 Members Report Posted November 8, 2016 I have been using resolene over my alcohol dyed belts, but don't like the plastic look and was trying to find out if I use beeswax mixed with neatsfoot oil as a final coat over the alcohol dye what is the best way to apply it, waiting time before buffing it and what is the best material to buff it with ?. john from John's belt Shop Quote
MADMAX22 Posted November 8, 2016 Report Posted November 8, 2016 (edited) Well it varies quiet a bit. I have some oil/bees/parafin mix in a jar. It is like semistuff butter and I usually rub it on with my fingers. It softens up quickly when rubbing it in and remember a little goes a ways. Usually if its a warm room and or you get some good sunlight on it 24-48hrs, if its pretty cool probably a few days to a week before you can buff it out. Its kind of like snoseal just a little thicker, if it cant get nice and warm its going to take a while to dry out basically. I usually give it a once over with old clean jeans material then buff with sherling or atleast thats how I do it. Edited November 8, 2016 by MADMAX22 Quote
Members Halitech Posted November 8, 2016 Members Report Posted November 8, 2016 I don't use alcohol based dyes but I use snow proof all the time as a top coat on both the grain and flesh side. I rub it on, apply a low heat to melt and then buff with a dry cloth right away. Quote
