mixmkr Report post Posted January 27, 2017 1. The manual lift lever on the JUKI LU562 should raise the presser foot (distance between needle plate and underside of presser foot) to what height? 5/16"? 2. The same lift lever allow you to raise it to another level (I think typically done by the knee lift?). Should that lever (if the knee lift is not hooked up) stay in that highest position? ..which is now about 3/8" ?? After professional servicing, my lever no longer stays at that highest point, but needs to be held. It will stay at the first "click" , but not all the way up. I'm also not sure if the maximum lift height is being achieved. Other than that, the machine is sewing like a champ (right now!)
Gregg From Keystone Sewing Report post Posted January 27, 2017 (edited) Juki LU-562-3 Product Brochure Click above for factory specs, Presser lift at hand lifter is 4mm (11/64"), and 10mm (25/64") by the knee lifter. BTW, the brochure is old literature on file from when we, Keystone Sewing, were located in a different part of the city (Olde City to Northern Liberties to be specific). Our name was different, too, started out as ABCO Sewing Machine Company in 1977. I guess that dates this brochure as being new at least from 1977 to 1980. mixmkr Report post Posted January 27, 2017 Thanks Gregg. Does the knee lifter need to be installed to HOLD the presser foot at the max height? (10mm). Or does the hand lifter need to be held to keep it lifted at that hegith? ...and/or is the hand lifter supposed to be able to lift it to that height? keithski122 Report post Posted January 27, 2017 On mine (563) the knee lift does the first stage but won't hold it, the hand lever does the second which holds it at its highest position.
Uwe Report post Posted January 27, 2017 On most machines the knee lift does not have a hold function. The hand-lift lever's first detent is the one you use during normal sewing. This first detent can usually be released again with the knee-lift. The hand lever will fall back down if knee lift raises the feet above first detent level, allowing you to have both hands on the material and lower the feet with your knee to start sewing again. On some machines the second detent does NOT automatically release when the knee lever is pressed. There's probably a good reason for that, but I can't think of it right now. Perhaps it's just for extra clearance when changing feet etc.
mixmkr Report post Posted January 28, 2017 Or swinging material getting ready to run over a thick seam, etc. Seems to be the "more option choice"....or maybe not! Keith...your setup seems backwards.
