Braided belt question

Ok thinking of doing a braided belt, using kangaroo lace. Two questions A: how would I get the standard looking end of the belt the triangle part, and b: where and or how do I put the holes for the belt buckle tongue to go though?

not interested in the mystery braid for a belt, and hmm that is a good idea might give that a go and see how that turns out!

You could also do a stockmen style belt, which uses two round rings, and a braided "triangle" part. Ron Edwards has a good description in his books

ohh I like that, right now I am doing a conquistador belt myself might just have to try that style belt though looks nice as well, how did you get the triangle end though?

I agree with motocouture, see if you can get a hold of some of Ron Edwards books. Also, I believe David Morgan has a book on leather braiding. And there is always the famed "Encyclopedia of leather and rawhide braiding" by Bruce grant which has a plethora of knowledge in it, everything from flat and round braids to turksheads and other projects. 

As for that particular "triangle" shape, it is an Australian technique. You actually begin the belt at the end and finish at the buckle. This is covered in all of the literature described but you can also try and Google "starting Australian flat braids" and see what that gets you.

When I do braiding. I do it upside down 

this does not mean standing on my head

The underside always looks better when I braid. So I look at the flesh side when braiding. The turn it round  to the grain side when finished

This is the book I used, along with another shot off the back of the triangle.  You actually braid about 6-7 inches grain side up, then flip each of the strands as you work them, so that when the belt folds back on itself on your waist, you only see the grain side
