Members Narnian Posted March 22, 2017 Members Report Posted March 22, 2017 Hello, I'd like to buy some leather for a small project (a few simple notebook covers). Can anyone recommend a place where I can purchase leather of reasonably good quality by the foot? I've spent a ridiculous amount of time combing the internet for trustworthy suppliers, but with my limited knowledge of leather it's difficult to sift the wheat from the chaff. Where should I look? Where (if this kind of question is not taboo or likely to start forum wars) avoid? Many, many thanks for any help you can offer. Quote

Members Thornton Posted March 22, 2017 Members Report Posted March 22, 2017 Springfield leather sells much of its leather by the foot. Quote
Members JimTimber Posted March 22, 2017 Members Report Posted March 22, 2017 Another vote for SLC (Springfield Leather Company). Quote
Contributing Member JLSleather Posted March 22, 2017 Contributing Member Report Posted March 22, 2017 That's going to depend on how many square feet you're talking about. If your 'notebooks' are 5x7", prolly don't matter. But if your notebooks are 8 1/2 x 11", then just get a back. Quote
Members Brianm77 Posted March 22, 2017 Members Report Posted March 22, 2017 I have had pretty good luck with a local saddle shop in my area. If you can find one, stop by and ask if they will sell 3 or 4 sq feet Quote

Members Narnian Posted March 30, 2017 Author Members Report Posted March 30, 2017 Thanks for the recs--much appreciated. I'd been looking at SLC and Brettun's Village, so maybe I'll try them first. Quote
