Sanch Report post Posted March 30, 2017 I'm working on a new stitching horse/clamp it will be adjustable in many different ways this is the beginning of it hopefully my ideas will pan out. It will have its own frame and seat just similar to a stitching horse only the seat will be from a motorcycle. It is a gel seat from a Sportster a le Pera it was sitting around gathering dust so I figured what better thing to use then a motorcycle seat! So here are a couple of pictures hopefully it will work out the way that I want to. Of course it's all metal and the Jaws will have leather wrap. As always comments and questions are welcome. and here is another picture of what the tensioning device should look like. Hopefully it will work out if not it's been a blast making it so far! there are still many modifications that I have to do to the jaws the silver perpendicular round rod will allow it to rotate on a knuckle of sorts then there is another joint that will allow it to tilt. At least that's the concept for now. This one is going to be a standalone unit unlike my other one that clamps to a table.

OLDNSLOW Report post Posted March 30, 2017 it looks like exhaust tube that came off of a v twin in a way, at least that is what it looks like to me. Is the bottom post going to be used as a pin to drop in a hole on a table?

Is the bottom post going to be used as a pin to drop in a hole on a table? No it it's not exhaust tube it's actually pieces of a elliptical Runner that I had Salvaged. The pin on the bottom actually will drop into a knuckle that allows it to spin and tilt I'll post a picture of it later
Sanch Report post Posted April 2, 2017 Okay so here is an update of my new stitching clamp I'm just about done with the jaws, and now comes the fun part making the seating arrangement here are a couple more pics keep in mind this thing is made out of metal so it may look dainty around the jaw area but it's not here's a pic of the spring actuated clamping device and one more showing the knuckle that it's attached to which will be welded to the seating arrangement
MADMAX22 Report post Posted April 2, 2017 Pretty cool. I think a larger wing nut or a T handle would be better for the tightening but thats just from looking at it. Having that attachment for what I assume is going to the seat seems like it could be adapted so you could have attachments at your work bench/desk/seat. Wrap some leather on the ends and good to go. Wrap some leather on the ends and good to go. still in the fab stages not ready to wrap the jaws till I get the seat frame set up. as to mounting it to a table I've already have one that does that and it served me well but I wanted the freedom of a dedicated stitching horse with 7" wide jaws. cjg Report post Posted April 2, 2017 Nice job! Not everything has to be made of wood to look good. Glad to hear you repurposed something headed for the scrap yard. You should see my back yard, I've got piles of metal every where from things I've salvaged. Last summer I built a flat bed for my plow truck all from stainless steel the I got for free. Always headed out to the scrap pile to make something.

Sanch Report post Posted April 2, 2017 (edited) Waiting on the flat black paint to dry, then onto assembly. Then I will figure how I'm going to cover the jaws. and here's another angle okay so the paint dried and I got it done except for wrapping the Jaws here it is as always any comments questions are welcome. and with the Jaws angle down a little and finally with the Jaws angle down all the way for storage. Edited April 2, 2017 by Sanch added pix of 99% completed horse
