Members txclas Posted April 8, 2017 Members Report Posted April 8, 2017 Looking for the best all around liner to use for rifle cases, shotgun cases and saddle scabbards. Also, where to find them. Thanks for any and all assistance. Quote
alpha2 Posted April 10, 2017 Report Posted April 10, 2017 A lot of the commercial uses felt. Saddle scabbards it mostly veg-tanned grain side against the gun, or sheepswool, from my limited experience. Quote

Velvet or velveteen for an 1800's Colt or Smith, wool for a English or European case or felt for a cheap modern production gun. I use a high quality wool for mine try Muellers Billiards but ask for samples first, some of the cloth is really nice and others are really cheap looking and felling. Wool is more expensive but more durable and will not pill up and snag like felt. Quote
