so i design handbags and i think i could use a better machine for the lining inside the purse.. would this machine be good for stitching.. right now i use a home machine with no table and it is tough at times to do something cleanly.. would this be a big upgrade or is there some much better>"?    (its the blue model singer 20u)

there are also a consew7360 and a  juki 5550 available... again, i don't need anything super heavy duty for the lining, but easier and more acurate to use

With the 20U & the way the bobbin goes in it's hard to make the stitch look right, the other 2 would be better UNLESS you NEED the zig-zag.

I agree with Bob. If you don't need the zig zag, I would go with the others and personally I prefer the Juki.

The 20U has less reach and is generally a smaller, lighter and less precise machine.

would the juki be too heavy duty for think lining stuff. ??

It would work fine for your linings.
