Kevin King Report post Posted January 30, 2008 Elephant body with frog inlay and blue contrast stitching. No fancy lining in this one, I was going for a dark feel. KK
Warren Report post Posted January 30, 2008 Very nice as always. I think you achieved "dark" and made it look good!

freak Report post Posted January 30, 2008 It look great with the simple black lining, very professional look. But,,,,,seeing and knowing your work i would of liked to see it with the blue stuff you've used before. I think i've said this before, if so,,,,hear it again. I really like the designs you come up with for you stitcking and inlays. CARRY ON !!!

David Report post Posted January 30, 2008 KK Very very nice looking. I see the elephant, and the frog modified cross....what is the smooth leather applique? Is it a calf skin kip or pigskin? Dave Theobald
David Report post Posted January 30, 2008 Also KK, if you have covered before, I apologize for asking again, How do you do the "piping" around the outside of your wallets?....It is a wonderful way to finish off the edge. Will you do a tutorial for us on wallet making? Dave Theobald
faceOdd Report post Posted January 30, 2008 Each time I think I've selected a favorite of your work, you come up with something I like even better : ) I really like how the blue 'pops' on this one. Tammy
Kevin King Report post Posted January 31, 2008 Thank you all very much. Ya Ya Ya, I know, I got some new thread colors. I started getting tired of red, orange, yellow, black, and white. I like the blue too. KKVery very nice looking. I see the elephant, and the frog modified cross....what is the smooth leather applique? Is it a calf skin kip or pigskin? Dave Theobald Thanks Dave. Its cow. 1-1.5 oz. garment. Dave Theobald I did a tute before the LW meltdown. If I can find the time, i'll see what I can come up with. I was also wanting to put together a woodgrain howto, if anyone would be interested in that. KK
SCOUTER Report post Posted January 31, 2008 Kevin, Everytime I look at your stuff I just scratch my head and wonder how you do it? Your stitching is to die for! So many twists and turns and still everything comes out so even... Beautiful! Thanks for the inspiration
indypbear Report post Posted January 31, 2008 Kevin, Looks great as usual. What machine do you stitch with? I'd love to see the process step by step sometime. I'm designing and making banjos straps and want to add a piece on each end with a treble cleft stitched into the center with a border stitch which is the reason for my question. Russ Report post Posted January 31, 2008 That was a nice tutorial, I wish I'd kept it rather than just bookmarking it That and the "favorite suppliers" thread......... Nice work Kevin, as always. Johanna Report post Posted January 31, 2008 The worst part is that we saved all but a couple days worth of posts, and we just can't see them. They are here. *sigh We haven't given up on trying to restore them. Johanna
esantoro Report post Posted February 2, 2008 Nice work. It would be great for someone to put up a tutorial of how to take an intricate design, transfer it to leather, and then cut it out, if such is not available elsewhere. Ed

Indy I use a juki 1541 and love it. The only thing I wish I had was a roller foot machine, that would make things just a bit easier and quicker. Nice work.It would be great for someone to put up a tutorial of how to take an intricate design, transfer it to leather, and then cut it out, if such is not available elsewhere. Ed Thanks Ed. I have been asked alot about how I transfer the designs and maybe, you never know, I may put something together. But for now, I am still perfecting my technique and at the moment keeping it as my trade secret. I can tell you this much though, It is VERY simple. If I told you, you would groan and say "thats it?" and "why the hell didnt I think of that". I never get tired of hearing the nice things you all have to say. Thanks very much!
