alexitbe Posted May 16, 2017 Report Posted May 16, 2017 I am starting a new hobby and need to sew shoe uppers... I can get a pfaff 345 very cheap and wonder if this will allow me to do the sharp turns neccessary for sewing shoe uppers... Ideally I want a wheel presser foot, but there is nothing as cheap as this pfaff at the moment.... Does anyone have any feelings about this? Thanks Alex Quote
Members Constabulary Posted May 16, 2017 Members Report Posted May 16, 2017 I think ideal is a flat bed machine with wheel feed (dog) and roller foot. If the 345 is very cheap I´d buy it anyway! How much is it? When you make sharp turn while sewing the stitches become longer / shorter. There are some interesting Videos from Lisa Sorrell (Boot maker) showing her technique - check her other videos too. RockyAussie Posted May 16, 2017 Report Posted May 16, 2017 Personally I prefer a post bed machine for shoe uppers and with a fed roller foot ideally.Mind you a 345 at the right price is worth having anyway. As a shoe upper gets more into shape it is a lot easier on the post to manoeuvre around the top line as well as the heel counter area.
