ewayne53 Report post Posted October 1, 2017 (edited) I recently bought someones leather tools set/kit. Everything was still in the box and most of it was never opened as none of it had never been used. Going through everything I found 4 nice boxes which contain 4 Al Stohlman Round Strap End Punches (1/2 thru 1-1/2 " picture attached). I was impressed by what appears to be high quality tools. I looked on the internet to find a price and everything I can find that matches the tools pictures state they are vintage which I assume means discontinued. Everything says sold out and there is no price. Can someone tell me if these tools are as nice as they appear to be and if they are worth anything. Thanks... Mark842 Report post Posted October 1, 2017 They are out of production. As for quality, I've never used one. I believe they were probably sold by Tandy years ago. Usually if it had Al Stolhmans name on it, it was better quality than the standard craftool. As for value..no idea. I've seen sets of 3-4 on eBay with sellers asking between $150- $250 that never sold and I've seen a few that have sold for $15 each like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-AL-STOHLMAN-ASB-Arch-Punch-1-inch-1-round-punch-/263156210171?hash=item3d455519fb:g:XtkAAOSwM5JZmNid They look to pretty to me...for something I'm just going to beat on with a maul! I think these are more a collectors item than a tool someone would use. If your looking to sell them, put them on eBay on a no reserve auction and then put up a listing in here in the marketplace with a link to them. the market will dictate the value. TomG Report post Posted October 2, 2017 Are you sure they are all strap end punches? the 3/4" and the 1-1/2" ones almost look like Oblong for slot punches. How much are you asking fo them?
