alexitbe Posted October 19, 2017 Report Posted October 19, 2017 Claes are great patcher machines and that is their largest one. Howeever, they all sew about 12 mm which is significantly more than the Singers.. I would say that it is an earlier build, because as we get further in to the DDR the build quality goes down. I have a black one like this...to replace my Singer that got stolen... I am glad it got stolen in the end, as this is much better. Cheers Alex Quote
Members Constabulary Posted October 19, 2017 Members Report Posted October 19, 2017 CLAES are indeed the best patchers you can get. Singers and Adlers are "a joke" compared with them. I really mean that - though I´m a bit Singer crazy! Singers and Adlers for sure do their job - no doubt but the CLAES are just a few levels up! CLAES is still making patchers (Co. now called alled CL Maschinenbau). I once was in their area (Mühlhausem, Thuringia) and I took the chance to visit them. I stumbled in to their officer and just asked if I could buy some spare parts. Sure - the office lady said with a friendly smile on her face. Men - unbelievable nice service there. They took me down to their production site - showed me around a bit and even demonstrated me a Zig Zag patcher machine - an unbelievable thing it is! Quote ~ Keep "OLD CAST IRON" alive - it´s worth it ~ Machines in use: - Singer 111G156 - Singer 307G2 - Singer 29K71 - Singer 212G141 - Singer 45D91 - Singer 132K6 - Singer 108W20 - Singer 51WSV2 - Singer 143W2
