Adler 30-7 (116 461) parts help

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

i am new to your community. I have dabbled for a few years with leather work. I recently received an Adler 30-7 treadle hand crank machine.  The price was right. Free. I am in the process of disassembling it and getting it running.  The problem I have is the teeth are sheared off the gear on the hand crank. Can anyone help me find a replacement gear. Thank you so much. -matt

Congratulations on scoring a free Adler 30-7! The downside is that everything will seem super expensive from now on.

Post a few "before" pictures when you get a chance. Remote internet-based support works best if you can document your story or problem really well.

It looks like the part with the gears is part number 030-10-010-0, at least according to the Adler 30-1/-5/-7 parts diagram ( Adler 30-1.pdf)  Chances of finding that part new are slim, I'm afraid. Your best hope may be that it's a somewhat generic part that was used in a couple of other machines, or copied from or by others. Or make friends with gifted, bored machinist.

On the bright side, that same part/number was carried over into the newer Adler 30-10/-50/-70 models, increasing your chance  of finding a replacement. If the newer models aren't dramatically different, the Adler 30 service manual ( adler30servicemanualpdf.pdf) may be of help.

it is a wild guess but older Singer 29K and Adler 30 share some similarities so it could well be that the 29K gears on the hand wheel could fit. But I have never compared them. I can give you some measures from a 29K gear - let me know

Check with LW member SHOEPATCHER - he probably can shed some light on this.

However - I yet have not seen sheared off gears on hand wheels at patcher machines and I have seen a few already. In my opinion this could mean that the entire machine is very well worn. And keep in mind there is a 2nd gear on the top shaft that could be worn too. I mean these are really sturdy gears and it takes some time to wear them off  . So before you invest money in the hand wheel gear better check the condition of the gear racks, pinions and shuttle driver in the gear box. If they are worn too you better drop the ideal of restoring it because Adler parts are extremely expensive and Singer 29K parts do not fit in the gear box.

Maybe a thin shim or washer between gear and bushing can do the trick already.... also just a guess.

Glen Miller, aka ShoePatcher on the forum, is the go to guy for Adler, Claes and Singer patchers. He has parts and fully rebuilt machines for sale. I got my ailing second hand Adler 30-7 working to specs again with parts I got from him.

Good morning,

I am looking for a parts manual or diagram for an Adler 30-1. More specifically I am looking to used the front hand crank wheel but I do not have the hub assembly to attach the wheel. Does anyone know where I can find either the manual OR the missing part? I see within this post there was a PDF that is no longer available.

Please help. Thank you.

 Matt,

I have the gears and the shaft for the front mount of the balance wheel.  I have entire assembly's of the front shaft and gear.  I will have to see if I have just gears.

Mandrill, what color is your 30-1?  That determines the age and hence the manuals.  I have various manuals for the Adler 30 class.  send me a PM.
