Brianm77 Report post Posted December 20, 2017 So most places sell leather by the side which is understandable. But for a relitivily new hobbist it is not always feesable to buy entire sides. And most of the time by the foot is not very cost effective. I have seen a lot of by the foot type stuff go anywhere from $15 to $25 and up per foot. I am not knocking it, I just can’t spend that kind of money on 1 square foot of leather. That is especially true if I am making something to try to make a few bucks on. My question is, anybody out there want to trade 4 or 5 square feet or sell kinda the same amount, and not try to make you living on selling me a piece of leather. I would rather trade if possible. I have a few sides or most of a side pieces that I have picked up for different projects. If it makes the deal any easier I could provide a couple of names that I have had dealings with here. I am right now looking for some dyed skirting in about 4oz. But there could be other things that might spark my interest. If there is any interest I can go into detail what I would have to offer and provide pictures. So so that being said, what do ya got? Brian
OLDNSLOW Report post Posted December 20, 2017 Just for some food of thought, and I don't have any right now, I just bought a side of 10oz wicket and craig and haven't cut into it yet, but find some one around your area that does saddles or holsters and let them know what your after. I did that only for strap leather when I needed a real heavy section cut out of some skirting , now I did pay a little extra but made it up on the back end, just a thought and your down yonder in Tejas go over to hobby lobby if those 1 foot squares that are about 2 oz will work but go with a 40% off coupon and save. Brianm77 Report post Posted December 20, 2017 Well I have bought quite a bit of stuff out of the cuts pile at the local saddle shop. The last couple times they did not have much beyond really bad stuff and some tooling drops. I have seen the stuff at hobby lobby and they really did not have what I am after. I just thought there there may be some others out there that may be in the same boat. Thought maybe we could work out a trade. Maybe in another year or two buying a side won’t be such a big deal. Brianm77 Report post Posted December 20, 2017 Or I have been thinking about trying some bridle
bikermutt07 Report post Posted December 20, 2017 If you look in the for sale section here NStarleather always has some beautiful stuff he is sharing for great prices. I know a quality side is a big investment for hobby level stuff, but think of how much freedom you will have. An entire side all to yourself, to make whatever you want. It's a good feeling. Brianm77 Report post Posted December 20, 2017 I know, and I have bought several sides from NSarleather. But sometimes you are looking for something else or don’t want to spend $80-$125 at the moment. Just thought I would try something new
YinTx Report post Posted January 8, 2018 Some of us do have all kinds of leather, and willing to sell some as well. But I imagine most don't wish to compile a list of leathers available, and a suggested price for each. If you have a color, type and square footage you are looking for, and a price you think would be fair, be specific and you'll probably get a bite. Dun Report post Posted January 8, 2018 Thinking about buying a side of 3-4 oz and some lining veg tan. I’d be willing to share some but not sure how to make shipping worth it.

YinTx I was mainly thinking of some Wickett & Craig skirting in brown or mahogany, 3-4 oz maybe 3-6 sqft or so. But other tings might peek my interest
YinTx Report post Posted January 9, 2018 Don't have any skirting though! Mostly Bridle.. and chrome tans, and veg tans. YinTx
Sceaden Report post Posted January 13, 2018 (edited) And don't forget that Springfield Leather Company sells a number of different options cut by the foot. I know what you are saying though. I keep hoping to buy a whole side of Wickett & Craig but I hate to invest the money right now to have it sit around. At the moment I only have natural veg tan with the exception of an interesting piece of dyed goat and sheepskin direct from Morocco...
