And Latigo probably

Posted

That work has been on this forum before. Last year sometime, if I remember correctly. Couldn't say where, but it raised quite a few eyebrows at the time. Amazing edges.

I am only guessing, buttero or cordovan?

Something more expensive than I have been able to afford.

halfmoonleather on instagram was just showing off some avancorp horse fronts that are beautiful and apparently hand burnish well, and may start selling it by the square foot! If I don't get a fileteuse for all this pigskin I have(that doesn't hand burnish) I may have to start ordering stuff like this.

Ok I was browsing Rocky Mountain Leather Supply this morning and low and behold.

This stuff is expensive, but looks really nice.

And think about it, to get the multi-colored work, you need to buy all the colors!

A little bit more than 14.00 a foot. I guess it's not insanely high?

The answer to Duns question is in my question. Sorry to be so obscure but out of respect to Niwa I am hesitant to elaborate any further. There are more than one way to achieve this effect and if someone wants to do something similar, I can only say that burnishing and the leather types are not necessarily the only way to come at it.
