Members NZRoyal Posted February 1, 2018 Members Report Posted February 1, 2018 (edited) Hi all, I'm relatively new to leatherworking and thought I'd sign up and say hello. I'm a firefighter living in Calgary, Alberta. I've just started making helmet shields and wallets for other firefighters/EMS and military friends. Got lots to learn but enjoying the process so far. Thanks! (Here's my second completed shield) Edited February 1, 2018 by NZRoyal Quote

Members Bigfoote Posted February 1, 2018 Members Report Posted February 1, 2018 Nice job, lots of leatherworkers in Calgary! Is that hand sewn or machine? Quote
Members NZRoyal Posted February 1, 2018 Author Members Report Posted February 1, 2018 Hand sewn. Haha, hours of fun... I've just picked up a stitching pony the other day to help the process. Still takes a while as it's relatively thick when the two layers are together. The other week I started making one for myself. It was a generic design as I hadn't been assigned a number by my Department yet. Got about 90% of the way through and the next day my Chief told me that we had all been assigned numbers so I'm gonna have to start again from scratch. Good practice though! Quote
