Members KingsCountyLeather Posted March 3, 2018 Members Report Posted March 3, 2018 Hi all, I’ve been making a bag from this leather and I don’t know what leather it is? It was one of many hides I purchased from a shoe factory and I know it is chrome tanned. It has a beautiful soft velvet feel to it with a Matt finish, when folded it has a pull up look to it (only a little though) It has a white layer between the top grain and the flesh back. (I skived a little piece in the picture) It is definitely real leather as I have the full side of leather. Has anyone come across this type of leather before? Ger. Quote
bikermutt07 Posted March 3, 2018 Report Posted March 3, 2018 Suede nubuck? Maybe? Even if it's not, at least you have a snazzy looking awl. Quote

Members SonderingSusan Posted March 12, 2018 Members Report Posted March 12, 2018 hey @KingsCountyLeather, id say its a cow hide leather. its just not a "through dyed " leather. this is something you should watch out for when buying, simply because a through dyed leather will be the same colour the whole way through and is easier to work with as a result and usually better quality. Northmount Posted March 13, 2018 Report Posted March 13, 2018 Chrome tanned leather often has white to blue in the middle. Tom Quote
