Hi all,

I’ve been making a bag from this leather and I don’t know what leather it is?

It was one of many hides I purchased from a shoe factory and I know it is chrome tanned.

It has a beautiful soft velvet feel to it with a Matt finish, when folded it has a pull up look to it (only a little though)

It has a white layer between the top grain and the flesh back. (I skived a little piece in the picture)

It is definitely real leather as I have the full side of leather.

Has anyone come across this type of leather before?

Ger.

Suede nubuck? Maybe? Even if it's not, at least you have a snazzy looking awl.;)

Lol. Thanks.

The awl was there for size reference.

hey @KingsCountyLeather,

id say its a cow hide leather. its just not a "through dyed " leather. this is something you should watch out for when buying, simply because a through dyed leather will be the same colour the whole way through and is easier to work with as a result  and usually better quality.
