Continuing Stitch Line with New Thread

Recommended Posts

What is the preferred method for continuing a line of stitches after running out of thread? To date, I've never sewn anything large enough that couldn't be done with a single strand of thread in a reasonable length. But that is about to change with a pending project, and I realized I've never confronted that issue before. Can anyone offer any suggestions. Sorry if this has been previously covered, but I couldn't seem to find it. Thank you!

what I do is leave enough thread that I can double up a few stitches  after I start my next thread. It's basically like a modified backstitch where instead of backstitching, you go forward a few over the new thread

I start in the hole of my last stitch. That way it looks like the thread just continues. I try to map it out to where I wind up in a lower stressed area.

I mean, I'm not building a parachute.;)

When stitching thicker leather you could use this option.
