Members Gymnast Posted April 26, 2019 Members Report Posted April 26, 2019 Yesterday i took out some hours, to measure the feed dog motion on my Singer 201 machine in relation to other Things happening. The results are in the Picture below. On this machine the needle do hit the material before the max position of the feed dog. Perhaps you can use it as one reference on this subject. Members miker Posted April 27, 2019 Author Members Report Posted April 27, 2019 Here is the video i promised! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySGKJU5QfxE&feature=youtu.be You can clearly see the leather piece moving a bit forward while the needle is already in the leather! Is it supposed to be like that? Quote
Members Constabulary Posted April 27, 2019 Members Report Posted April 27, 2019 is it probably a needle feed machine? Uwe Posted April 28, 2019 Report Posted April 28, 2019 The short answer is: No, it shouldn't be like that. The needle should not keep moving forward after it penetrates the material. Your feed and needle movements are out of synch and need to be adjusted. That video link above does not work, by the way. Quote Uwe (pronounced "OOH-vuh" ) Links: Videos

Members Constabulary Posted April 28, 2019 Members Report Posted April 28, 2019 Video is quite blurry but could it be that your feed dog is too high or rises too early? Members Gymnast Posted April 28, 2019 Members Report Posted April 28, 2019 I have looked the video. It seems to me, that when the inner presser foot starts to press, then there is some slack, and then the fabric and feed dog are pushed further a bit backwards. Can i be, that something is Loose? Members miker Posted April 28, 2019 Author Members Report Posted April 28, 2019 Yes the video is blurry (i made it with my phone) however it's visible what i mean! I'll make one more video later today. The funny thing is that the machine came like this from a service center! I guess i have to do it myself! Before i start any suggestion on what i must reset? Members Gymnast Posted April 28, 2019 Members Report Posted April 28, 2019 For me it is not too much a problem, that the video is blurry. It is the sudden big steps in the sewing cycle, that causes a problem for me. I hope to see a video with slow movement of every part of the sewing cycle Quote Sewing Machines in Detail, YouTube channel
