Dog carving and embossing

Recommended Posts

My last carving/embossing. It dries, waiting for the finishing treatment and turning into a product. If it is interesting, I will post a series of photos that show the creation process.

Well that is way beyond cool.  Doing faces, whether human or a dog such as this has got to be one of the most difficult things to do.  You pulled it off quite nicely.  Looks very realistic.

There is craft and then there is art.  You have entered the realm of art.

Thank you for such an appraisal of my work! I still need a lot to learn from those who professionally work with the leather. Thanks to this forum, I have this opportunity.

Nice work.

Thanks! I very much hope that the finished product will have a decent look. While my stitching is very lame  :) or rather :(.

Well, you can only work on one thing at a time.  Unless its waiting for glue and paint to dry simultaneously!

WOW! That is gorgeous! I am a German shepherd person, too. Would love to try that myself for one of my dogs, but not sure I have the talent.

Can we see the inside, please?

And is that hand stitching or machine stitching? (Very nice stitching, regardless!)

Thank you!  My work has many flaws -  if see at a professional look. But I hope that thanks to the information in this forum, the advice of the masters and the strong desire for to do more, I can achieve better results.
I use a hand stitching and in this work I first time tried zig-zag .. I was very worried that it would not nicely. Before that, I used only a flat recessed seam .

Beautiful!

Here are my two girls, Eska and Star:

The poodle belonged to my mom, and the black dog in the other photo belonged to a room-mate. As you can see, he and Star got along very well!

The other German shepherd in the first photo was my male GSD, Ranger, who passed away at the age of 14.
