K-Man Report post Posted July 2, 2007 I've been asked to make a mechanic's belt, and am looking for the actual belt buckle apparatus. It's a two-prong set up that's imbedded between the leather. You can see an example here: http://www.aandtleather.com/MechanicsBelt.htm Anyone have any suggestions on where to find the buckle part?

In all probability you might need to contact a manufacturer to die-punch the needed blank out of sheet steel. Tandy's 'buckle back ring & hook', #1803-00, is the closest I could find, but it has only a single prong. Actually, it might just work, if the ring is removed & the part of it that the ring rotates in is flattened out. Sew in the blank as on the original- the only difference is that you'll have only a single, rather than a double prong. (I don't know if it is absolutely necessary to have a double prong, especially if your keeper loop is sufficiently snug).

barra Report post Posted July 2, 2007 www.siegelofca.com Go to products/buckles and hardware/hardware Scroll down to #13 hook. It is a bit different to the one you described so I don't know if it will meet your needs. Barra
Billsotx Report post Posted July 2, 2007 Kevin, What about the frog like used on the old military leather slings? Brownell's has them, stout ones, if you think that'll work.
Oscar B Report post Posted July 4, 2007 I have used screen door hooks. Undo the eye screw and bend and cut off to right length. Rivet on backing leather glue and sew down.
