Juki 1510-7

Recommended Posts

Hello. Does anyone have any opinions or words of wisdom ref juki's 1510 machine as a replacement for a juki 563?

Any info on the above machine would be great, I've found the engineers manual online.

The 1510 that I've seen for sale is fitted with an efca variocontrol 820 and an efca euramot motor.

It will be used for car upholstery so is needed to go through several layers of foamed leather, carpet and other heavy duty materials.

The Juki LU-1510N-7 (link to Juki page) is as much a replacement for the ancient LU-563 as a Dodge Viper is for a Grand Caravan. Apples to oranges. The 563 was a first or second generation walking foot machine from the 1980s. The 1510 is from the space station.

Do you have a fat wallet? I hope so. This is a very expensive sewing machine.

If you are looking for a Juki that is priced more affordably, look into the DNU-1541, or one step up, the 1508 series.

I'm in the UK and its a secondhand machine that I've seen.Price is good at £1250 from a sewing machine specialist ($1668 according to google), a new 1541 is around £1500 ($2000) and a secondhand 565 or equivalent around £750 (£1000).I like the top loading bobbin of the higher spec machines and most secondhand machines would need a servo upgrade (£120 or $160).Higher spec secondhand machines at an affordable(to me) price don't often come up for sale in the uk, only seen one 1508 for sale in the last couple of years.Just need to know its a good buy and to be able to justify the purchase.

In that case, yes, it is a good buy. New, it would have sold for 2 or 3 times what a 1541 sells for.

I have limited information from this thread, but from what I read, the 1st thing I would be concerned about is a very very good Efka motor on a very good LU-1510-7 machine?  Juki from the factory uses a proprietary motor, and control box like an SC-510.

That said, it's 100% possible that someone hooked up an Efka motor and control box that can do needle positioning, presser foot lift, underbed trimmer, input buttons, anything the Juki can do the Efka can do.  And in some cases the Efka may have more torque.  Most Efkas are Single Phase 220V, the newer ones anyway.

I'm only guessing her but it could be that they part exchanged/bought in the machine with a faulty motor/controller and used the efka from their spares pile and as its a bitza its priced cheap.

Thanks for the heads up, something to ask before I buy.Probably won't be until the end of the month when I get paid as long as it hasn't sold by then.

Looking at it it seems that it has the singer style foot which matches all the feet I have, does it look to you that I'm corrrect?

That Efka looks old, maybe too old to service.  What's the control box model number?  You should make sure you can get this service and support for this motor before diving in.

Could be 110V as well, for sure.

An update to an old thread. I've owned the 1510N-7 for 14 yrs now. Yes it's expensive but worth every single penny for someone who is a professional and in the trade to make money. It saves much time and does a better job period.

I've been sewing 50 yrs now and owned many other machines. 206 ,111w155,211w155, 226RB,B837, 563. I will never never go back to any of those machine types. That goes for Juki's 1510 etc.

And against what the poster above said about the 510 juki motor I disagree totally. It has been flawless and so controled it's amazing. One stitch a time with 9 layers of upholtstery leather then jump right to thousands of stitches per minute.

I recently tried a Brother B837 with a 3/4 hp Consew server motor and could not get the performance at all like the Juki 510.

Thanks for replying to this. As I wasn't able to see the machine in person and the seller (a sewing machine dealer) would send it by pallet if bought I sent some material for testing but it never got sent back to me.After several phone calls  requiring the test panels and details I gave up as I wasn't getting anywhere. I must be lucky because I've since found a Typical industrial machine the same as a brother LS2-B891-705 which is great and at 2/3rds of the price the juki was.
