falcon45 Report post Posted June 27, 2018 Hi all...I am currently making a leather sheath for a Mora Companion. The stitching on the front of the sheath looks perfect, but the back doesn't look quite right. Pretty rough looking. I am using a Cowboy 4500 machine 277 thread Organ 200/25 needle 3 layers of 10oz leather....1/2 inch total thickness How can I improve the backside of this sheath? All help is appreciated. Wizcrafts Report post Posted June 27, 2018 Is your needle in crooked? It looks like the slicing face is not inline with the direction of feed. Have you thought about trying diamond point needles? I got some from Bob Kovar and they lay inline on the top and bottom, plus they don't depress the edges like the S points do. Using the same stitch length setting with Diamond (aka: triangle) points makes the stitches appear longer since they are more on the surface from hole to hole.
