clutch purse & Sheridan panel

Here is a clutch purse I made for my friend in Idaho and a framed Sheridan panel. When it was suggested I carve this , to be quite honest I was reluctant. After finisnishing it and framing it, I must admit it , surprisingly, I like it. I am working on another one now. All comments welcome. Thanks, Dan

The carving that you framed is one of may favorite patterns, I have an address book cover that I have been working on and off on that uses it. You did great on it.

I see on the clutch purse that it looks like you started the lacing near the bend. I usually try to stay away from there on a start/ stop point to discourage it from unraveling. I was having trouble with the "joining" of the beginning and end too, with the starting lace not sitting at the proper angle too. I found if I unravel the first two stiches the lace will lay at the proper angle through the joint (did that make since?)

Both of these are very nice pieces, but I especially like the framed carving. It looks very well done, the one thing you might work on is making the backgrounding more even. Beside that, it looks great.

I sure would like to spend some time with a Sheridan carver...in a manly sort of way of course....seems like I don't learn much unless someone "shows me" how it's done....

otherwise, I ruin a LOT of good leather.....

Altough i'm no expert, i must say that ruin leather is part of the process!

One of my friend is making medieval armor since 1985. And when i ask him: How did you learn to make some armour?

Is answer was simple: By ruining metal and by swearing a lot! :angel_not:
