59morris Report post Posted September 4, 2018 Hi all....I picked up one of the 291's, checked out the different plays in the machine and the guy said it was ready to run on 3 phase which was OK with me. But when I got it into my garage and started cleaning it I found there was no bobbin holder or as some manuals refer to a bobbin cap for it. I contacted Simard in Cambridge and they told me I had to replace the complete hook assembly for around $650.00. Wow, looks like I may have bought a good door stop. I have been on the internet and checked out different sites and have a variety of part numbers and pictures of bobbin case/caps that could work with this machine. Not knowing what I need is frustrating. My question to anyone with a 291is, what part do I really need and where can I get it even a picture would help. Any directions would be a great help. thanks in advance Bob

Look here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bobbin-Case-Industrial-Singer-95-96-188K-191-241-251-281-291U-400W-600W-491-591-/202002388942 Those are Singer 291 bobbin cases, not Durkopp 291 bobbin case caps. College Sewing in the U.K. has the caps: https://www.college-sewing.co.uk/store/295001426-B_CASE-CAP-DURKOPP-N291-GENUINE The Durkopp 291 bobbin case cap issue should be a separate topic as it has little to do with 3-phase converters. Wizcrafts Report post Posted September 5, 2018 I split this into a new topic so that the O.P. can get the best answers. The original topic was about Efka motors.
