Paint as an antique?

As stated in the title I recently read a post that stated they used a black acrylic paint to antique some carved lettering what I would like to know is how this is done if anyone knows how or uses this technique I’d appreciate it

Check around the 5:20 minute mark. Well, watch the entire series, this guy is literally a master, not to mention funny. But the 5:20 timeframe is where he starts the magic with using paint as antique, sorta. Exact same concept though.
