Where to source Pfaff 138 knurled nuts?

Recommended Posts

Hi!

My first post here (thank you for letting me join!) and found this forum just googling after information about the old Pfaff 138 I bought recently.

I have no idea how the condition of the machine is, but I have noticed that the thread of both knurled nuts for the tensioner are stripped. I have searched for new ones, but for the only ones I've found (on eBay) the shipping is ridiculous! Does anyone know if there are other brands that fit, that might be easier to find locally? Living in Sweden has the big drawback that it's sometimes hard, if not impossible, to find specialist stuff. Parts for old industrial sewing machines are such things. Heck, I haven't even found a shop that will do a service/tune up on this machine...and I'm living in the frecking capitol of Sweden, not out in the sticks!

I will post some pictures of the machine soon...all threads on forums are better with nice pictures in my opinion!

Contact Luke at MJ Foley in Detroit.    At one time, they were the largest Pfaff dealer in the US.  Do you have the part numbers?   Their  telephone number is 5869486070.

Thanks Glenn!

What I have found the part number is 91-001 522-25, but there are other numbers that seems to be the same part. The number is from a parts list pdf that I found in a thread here on the forum.

I'll try emailing MJ Foley to see if they can help me. I prefer writing since my written English is better than my spoken English...:rolleyes2:

I'll try the Britts too!

I found a thread here that someone suggested this seller: https://www.ebay.de/usr/brleder. I have contacted them just now.

@PaxmanI would also suggest CS. I find the best thing is simply to put the manufacturer's part number into College's search box. The top result is normally the part I'm looking for.

I have bought parts for the Pfaff 138 from the ebay seller brleder a few times. He had good prices and fast, inexpensive shipping ($6-$7).

It is worth checking to see if your knurled nuts are really stripped, or maybe the split tension stud has squeezed together making the nuts act like they are stripped.

They are stripped alright...there are basically no threads on the inside, looks more like knurled washers...

Good to know that brleder is a good seller with reasonable shipping. It really grinds my gears when sellers charge $20 for shipping for a padded envelope...:ranting2:
