Members EdgarM Posted November 10, 2018 Members Report Posted November 10, 2018 Do anyone here have books from studio tac creative? What are your opinion about it? I am thinking of getting one or two books from them but since I will have to import them, not sure if it worth it. It will cost me around 40 euros per book. Is there something better or in that style besides the ones from studio tac? Quote
Members niakulah Posted November 10, 2018 Members Report Posted November 10, 2018 I have Vol 20 in Chinese. The pictures are good to get an idea of how it's done, but using Google Translate camera/live, I can't for the life of me decipher the written instructions... Quote

If you have done a few projects already the pictures alone is enough to give you a good idea of what's happening. But if you're completely new you may have problems following along. Quote
terryHHI Posted November 10, 2018 Report Posted November 10, 2018 I have several of the Studio Tac books in Japanese. I don’t speak Japanese, but I found the books useful. The pictures are show processes and techniques in detail. For the most part, the pictures tell a fairly complete story. I’ve refined several of my techniques based on the Studio Tac books. I also use Google Translate to translate the text to English. The Google Translate app lets you to take a picture of the text and it will translate into your language of choice. I’ve found the translations are helpful but not perfect. Another thing I like are the patterns. I haven’t made anything directly from their patterns but I’ve used pieces, like tabs or straps, to make select pieces for things I’m making. Another book to consider is “The Leatherworking Handbook: A Practical Illustrated Sourcebook of Techniques and Projects” by Valerie Michael. It was the first book I purchased when I started leatherworking and I found it useful. Quote
Members EdgarM Posted November 12, 2018 Author Members Report Posted November 12, 2018 I have made 8 things so far, 2 bag and a couple of other stuff but I am not really satisfied with the results that much, and want go get better. Had to do a lot of adjustment after cutting the pieces on my fist bag to make it look half decent. That is why I was thinking about those books. I will probably buy one about long wallets first to see if I can work around the translation issue. Thanks for yours opinion guys Quote
