Davm Report post Posted November 15, 2018 I want to make a western style cartridge belt with sewn on bullet loops and to stiffen the belt a little I thought a liner would be a good idea. My problem is a similar thickness of leather would make the belt too thick. Suede seems to pick up dirt and dust. I think what I need is just a lighter weight oak tanned leather. Any suggestions appreciated.
Mattsbagger Report post Posted November 15, 2018 Yep just get a 3 oz or 5 oz and sew in last after the loops. (Not knowing what size you are making the main body from)
Davm Report post Posted November 20, 2018 Pretty heavy, I'd say about 9 oz give or take 1 oz in either direction. BUT this is for real world use so I want something substantial.
JLSleather Report post Posted November 20, 2018 Yup - 4 or 5 oz veg liner and you'll be all fixed up, more than "firm" enough to keep it from "rolling".
nrk Report post Posted November 20, 2018 4/5oz is good to go as minimum. JLS's right
