Seiko HVP-70

Recommended Posts

Picked up a Seiko HVP-70 motor off ebay for a low offer.

It showed it spec'd as 220v but a simple wire swap inside converted it to 110v. (pretty sweet feature)

Question for anyone familiar - is there a way to toggle the positioning on/off? If it's possible, it is not readily apparent in the manual. (which is DEEP)

'Nother question -

Anyone have a source for small pulleys with a v-belt profile (3L?) and a 14mm bore? NOT with a keyway, this has a 14mm bore with two socket screws opposed 90 degrees. The pulley that came with it is 85mm, I'm looking for a 55mm or smaller.

I am finding lots of servo motor timing belt pulleys, but none for v-belts. I did a search for the Seiko/Ho Hsing part number 2VP2PY4041D (for 65mm)  but no luck.

I had a similar issue when making speed reducers. The only pulleys I could find were on ebay but had a keyway, so I drilled and tapped them for set screws. These were 45mm so pretty easy to do.

I checked the owners manual, nothing on the sync.  I've contacted Ho Hsing in the past, and they have been more than helpful.  English does not seem to be of any issue at all last time I was helped.

As for the pulley, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the pulley and shaft bore are tapered.

I did a general search for the HVP-70 and found some other iterations (for Adler machines, etc). This looks to be a general motor platform that is programmed (firmware?) by Ho Hsing for various manufacturers/models, with different parameters highlighted depending on the iteration.

Found this one for an Adler 271 with MANY more parameter entries than the Seiko:

Parameter 118 toggled "ON" switches it to "Converting to a clutch motor selection". That worked, positioning turns off and it's a vanilla motor. Weird to phrase it as "clutch motor" though.

Nice find.  I knew they were holding back on some of the parameters that are available.
