Members bdpeters Posted November 26, 2018 Members Report Posted November 26, 2018 that looks real nice, what weight of leather did you use? Quote
Members corkscrew Posted November 26, 2018 Author Members Report Posted November 26, 2018 Thanks, 6-7oz leather mounted to 1/4" plywood. Quote
Members YinTx Posted November 27, 2018 Members Report Posted November 27, 2018 Some realism in that one! Nicely done. YinTx Quote

Members SilverForgeStudio Posted November 27, 2018 Members Report Posted November 27, 2018 Very nice- saved to my inspiration folder for sure- very nice indeed. Did you use antiquing over the dye? Interested in the Shading in your stippled area and border! Quote
Members corkscrew Posted November 27, 2018 Author Members Report Posted November 27, 2018 SilverForgeStudio, I painted the dog with acrylics and then sealed the painted area with 3 coats of Super sheen. Then I used a water base antique gel in saddle tan over the whole piece. The numbers are dyed with green oil dye and the edge with a brown dye. Then a couple of coats of Tan-Kote over everything. Takes some time but worth it to get a nice finish. Hope this helps. Quote
Members SilverForgeStudio Posted November 28, 2018 Members Report Posted November 28, 2018 It does! thanks- I appreciate the carving as well- but its the finish and the color blends I am impressed with most as that fade is something I want to attempt! Thanks again! Quote
