bermudahwin Report post Posted January 17, 2019 I use a German machine similar to this for skiving (at an angle), edge paring for turned over edges and paring for bookbinding (laborious but better than using a spokeshave and lots of bad language). If I could get another machine in my shop, it would be a bell skiver, but to do that I'd have to move my computer into the garden. In short, its as sharp as the razor blades you put in it. You will get through a lot of scrap getting used to setting it up, but it will do a job. H
fredk Report post Posted January 17, 2019 (edited) I went to your link. Shop around for a better price. I recently bought one of these from a Chinese seller on ebay. It cost me £26 including delivery charges [about $33 maybe?] I've not used mine yet. It needs very careful setting up, but once set up it apparently will do a grand job - according to other users on this forum Edit; Heres a link to one at £21 [about $27?] https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Metal-Leather-Splitter-Rollers-Device-Edge-Skiver-Paring-Cutter-Craft-DIY-Tool-/303030069152?hash=item468dffe7a0 Edited January 17, 2019 by fredk

It is a clone of this one. https://www.hewitonline.com/Scharf_Fix_Paring_Machine_and_Spare_Blades_p/tl-091.htm The original has more adjustments than other simple ones like https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Metal-Leather-Splitter-Rollers-Device-Edge-Skiver-Paring-Cutter-Craft-DIY-Tool-/303030069152?hash=item468dffe7a0 I purchased another very similar to this one and have not been happy with it. I built one of my own based on the Scharf Fix Paring machine. It works much better. Tom
