Made this for my Grandsons 13th Birthday. I made the pattern myself and I was surprised to see it come together as well as it did. It was a wee bit tight getting the book covers into the slots but once in it seemed to fit perfect. I was unhappy with the basket weave but no one else much notices it so I need to quit being so hard on myself. I was going to do a more detailed dye job but I decided to just keep it SIMPLE as simple usually ends up being better.

Well, What do you think? I do like the feed back.

Happy tooling,51942390_299398174111819_47921743825899352674273_299398130778490_15510439705559651822196_299398104111826_49687419484173752838833_299398157445154_29901903120406951869030_299398094111827_813410141929367

I think you did an excellent job on the Bible cover. It looks great and I think I'll keep it in mind to make one some day.

Thank you. He loved it by the way. Even more than the $20.00 in the card! There is HOPE for OUR YOUTH yet!

I am a minister and so glad to hear that as I have a real interest in our youth as well as the Bible.

Beautiful job. I like the red thread too, its not quite a contrast but is off color enough from the leather to catch your eye. You done good Sir.

Great job!
I especially like the wood grain of the cross, and, as mentioned, your choice of the red thread is wonderful.

I can see where YOU would have a problem with the basket weave - the border being more noticeable than any slight unevenness in the pattern, BUT - it is only because it's being analyzed on the millimeter level, as we all do, in order to improve our work. Everyone else will see the item as a whole, and it most certainly looks beautiful. Heck, I wish my basketweave looked that good.

Yes, be proud of this one - you absolutely earned it, sir. Period.
